RESISTOR goes off leash with new single MUTT

RESISTOR a Long Island, NY bred band has released their new single, Mutt. Known for their combination of old school turntables, nu metal energy, and hardcore riffs, Resistor is a sound like no other. Having started with Anthony Grambo [vocals] and Anthony Conti [guitar] chatting music at the skatepark, then later joined by Ian Schneider [bass], Anthony Arce [turntables], and Peter Smith [drums] their high energy on and off stage has resulted in a string of forceful tracks that hit hard and don’t stop. Grabbing attention from their 2023 EP So It Begins EP, which gathered over over 1 million total streams, and their HEADCASE EP in 2025 produced by Randy LeBoeuf [The Amity Affliction, Bad Omens] which launched the band into the spotlight. The band has been running across North America on tour and performing everywhere from the Gathering of the Juggalos to the Inkcarceration pre-show, yet always making time to return to their home state. Now they’re making waves again with their new release.

Listen to MUTT here

Mutt immediately comes in with warped guitar, record scratching, and a scream of “Get Fucked!” They perfectly encompass the Resistor sound off the bat. It’s aggressive, it’s wild, and there are so many varying elements to it. Their sound is unapologetically loud with siren-like guitar, deep basslines, and rapid-fire drums. Having Arce bring new energy to the old-school turntable sound keeps things feeling fun. The two-step break that hits mid-song pulls the energy up as well before almost immediately slamming into the breakdown after.

The lyrics are vulgar but still meaningful in their message. The no-holds-barred viciousness used to portray the torn up feeling of being on the border of multiple cultures and finding rejection at almost every turn. Barking and growling in a way that comes off like a rabid dog, committing to the title of the song. Ian Schneider was extremely vulnerable in sharing the meaning of this song. Especially with an experience that is so widespread amongst people with multicultural backgrounds.

"Lyrically, this track is about the struggles of growing up in a multi-cultural family and not being enough of either end for each individual side," says Schneider. "Being of two different ethnicities, it was always incredibly difficult to navigate the relationship between both sides of the aisle. Never enough of this for one side, never enough of that for the other, and always ending up as the 'mutt' stuck on the wrong side of both."

The music video for Mutt feels like a victory lap. Showcasing clips from all of the exciting shows Resistor has recently played. A visual overload, the video is rife with wild effects and crazy colors. It isn’t all stage and crowd shots, though. Interwoven with it all are clips of the band just hanging out, playing Beyblades with fans, and having fun. When combined with the song, it gives a view into the band creating the community and bonds that they were missing. Being able to take their experiences and be the change in the world that they needed gives the entire release so much meaning. I can’t wait to see what else it inspires
