Deadlands release new single “Limbo” and announce EP “Seven”
On May 14th, 2025, the up-incoming New York metalcore band, Deadlands, released their new track, Limbo, which is accompanied by an absolutely sinister music video. Limbo is one of the tracks off of their recently announced, upcoming concept EP, SEVEN, which dives into the depths of seven deadly sins. SEVEN is set to release on June 27th via Spinefarm.
Limbo tackles the deadly sin of lust. This hauntingly powerful track grabs you from the first note and does not let go. The interplay of powerful screams and melodic cleans produced by vocalist Kasey Karlsen adds a level of depth to this track that leaves you wanting more. The intense instrumentals by guitarist and bassist CJ Arey and drummer Kyle OBraitis mirror the song’s emotional turmoil, amplifying the intensity with every crashing cymbal.
The dark theatrical production combined with the emotionally raw vocals really invites the listener to reflect on their ‘sinful’ doings.
As Karlsen puts it, “SEVEN explores the seven deadly sins, intricately woven into the fabric of a metalcore soundscape that resonates. Each track serves as a chilling personification of these ancient vices, inviting listeners into a world steeped in despair and moral decay. The goal is to hold a mirror to ourselves and deconstruct the things that breed evil in the soul."
Furthermore, "'Limbo' describes the story of falling in love with someone who is purely using you to satisfy their own desires. The purpose of this song is to focus on the destructive aspects of lust and how it can not only hurt someone else but also lead to self-destruction, whether you're the one with the feelings or not. We've all had the experience of wanting to hold onto something that feels so right, even when you know it could end badly."
Limbo is one of the six tracks on the band's upcoming EP, SEVEN. The three other songs that have been released are: Villain, Kundalini, and House of Cards.
