Great American Ghost releases extended version of their album “The Tragedy of The Commons”
Originating from New Hampshire, Great American Ghost has been a part of the metalcore scene since 2012. Releasing their first full length album titled “Everyone Leaves” in 2015, the band has made themselves a staple in the genre. The quintet is best known for delivering extreme views into heavy music and they definitely do that well.
After signing with Sharptone records, Great American Ghost first brought us their single “Hymn of Decay” in 2024 with their new and current lineup of members; Vocalist Ethan Harrison, guitarist Niko Gasparrini, guitarist Grayson Stewart, and Anthony Laur on bass. This would be the band’s first release in over two years. They then went on to release four more singles after that, leading to the drop of “The Tragedy of The Commons” in 2025.

Filled with raw anger, thrash, and emotion; the album is named after an economic study that describes the way individuals will prioritize their self interests over the common good, ultimately exploiting and depleting resources for all. While relating to the current climate of America; “The Tragedy of The Commons” makes a strong political statement against poverty, war, and genocide.
Now after four albums on their discography, Great American Ghost adds an extended version of their album “The Tragedy of The Commons” just a little over a year after its initial drop. The band explained they “had more to say within the space we created for the album” and this will be their “final word”.
“The Tragedy of The Commons (Reconstructed)” is a digital only release that includes eight new tracks. Already known favorites such as “Lost In Outline” and “Writhe” get an acoustic version; while “God Is A Loaded Gun” gets a remix with Trace Amount, an experimental and industrial techno artist from Brooklyn, New York. In addition; “Hymn of Decay ll”, “[Catadeth], “Hole in the Earth”, and “Scars” are all songs not featured on the original release.
Along with the release of the extended album, the band released a visualizer for their single “Hymn of Decay” (feat. Scott Kennedy, Bleed From Within)
