In This Moment released their latest single, “Sleeping With the Enemy,” along with its official music video on May 29 via Better Noise Music. As the band’s first release of 2026, “Sleeping With the Enemy” further reinforces the unmistakable identity that has made In This Moment one of modern metal’s most recognizable forces.

With her commanding and sinister presence, frontwoman Maria Brink, lovingly called “mother” by her fans, demands full attention with “Sleeping With the Enemy.” Backed with the full force of her fellow bandmates, co-founder and lead guitarist Chris Howorth, bassist Travis Johnson, guitarist Randy Weitzel, and drummer Kent Diimmel, In This Moment have created one of the most identifiable personas of modern metal. They’ve amassed billions of streams across 8 full-length studio albums, topped the charts with seven Gold and two Platinum singles, and have even earned a grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance for their track “The In-Between.”

“Sleeping With the Enemy” is another powerful addition to the band’s extensive catalog of hard-hitting releases. Frontwoman Maria Brink reflected on the song and the band’s forthcoming album, stating,

"With 'Sleeping with the Enemy' and our upcoming album, we're confronting the darkness — whether it's inside us or external. It's about looking that darkness in the face and transforming it into empowerment. We feel so exhilarated and ready to show the world what we've conjured up."

And that is exactly what the track delivers. Musically, the composition recalls elements of the band’s earlier material through commanding vocal delivery, massive guitar and bass work, and thunderous drumming, while seamlessly incorporating a bounty of theatrics that coincide with some of their more recent work.

The accompanying music video expands on the track’s themes of betrayal and subtly coming to know that the one you’ve trusted, the one who was like family to you, was really the enemy the whole time. The choreography captures the internal back and forth of fighting the instinct of knowing who they are, but not being ready to fully embrace that truth. Director Michael Lombardi brings Brink’s creative vision to life with the bold use of color combined with the striking imagery of religious symbology that signals a unity with the rest of their recent discography.

Kristen

Hi! My name is Kristen and I’m a photographer/videographer based out of Milwaukee, WI. I’ve never known life without a camera in my hands and music in my ears. Music is something that I always felt passionate about and fell in love with how music can connect so many people from all different walks of life. At a very young age, I found my mom’s VHS camcorder and filmed anything and everything. Later in life, I became a wedding videographer and continued to do that for 5 years. While doing this helped me hone my craft, I always had a pull in the back of my mind to music photography. That's when I decided to bring my two passions together and got into music photography. I hope to help continue bringing people together and amplifying the voices and stories of all of the people and artists I am inspired by, and those I have yet to find.
