Point North Brought a Headline-Worthy set in Support of Badflower at Saint Andrews Hall in Detroit

On a Tuesday in February, one would not expect such an insanely energetic set from three stellar bands, but that is exactly what was delivered. Saint Andrews was packed wall to wall with people for the sold-out show headlined by Badflower- knowing that every band that took the stage was going to bring it all and have everyone moving like it wasn’t almost the middle of the week. Point North was one of the best sets I have seen in a while- I am even craving the next time they make a return to Michigan just to get another taste.

The band walked out to jump right into “2 Liter Spite”, with vocalist Jon Lundin gesturing to the crowd and getting right into the high-packed energy of the set.  The entire set was packed with insane vocals, intense guitar and drumming, near-constant crowd surfing, and fans screaming the lyrics right back at the band on stage.  From start to finish, Point North was on point with their performance.  Andy (guitar) moved across the stage the entire show like he personally owned the stage, adding to the positive chaotic energy of their set.  With hits like “Into The Dark”, “Like a Weapon”, the new and well -received “Dead 2 Me”, “World Vs. Peace”, “Dark Days”, “Stitch Me Up”, “Bring Me Down”, “Below The Belt”, “Ghost in My Home” and “Safe and Sound” the entire setlist was a Point North fan’s dream- also an incredibly impressive set from a support band on a tour. This band brought headline quality to that venue, with fans leaving talking about how amazing they were, and new fans that hadn’t quite jumped on the Point North train just yet, but now have their tracks streaming on repeat.

The set was so intense and insanely fun that if anyone had to leave pre-Badflower, they would have been satiated.  Point North had so many bangers on the setlist they never stopped moving- even when a track slowed, feet were leaving the stage like their life depended on it.  Much to the crowd surfers’ delight, a few got to bump mid-set fists with Jon, creating that band-to-fan closeness many fans desire. Circle pits forming on the floor were even friendly, the crowd existing specifically in that moment with good vibes, good music, and a night off from reality.  I don't think it is possible for anyone to have left the venue after that show without becoming a huge fan of the band.

If you have yet to see them live, there are plenty more chances- you will never be disappointed.  Hopefully, soon we get a headline tour because I personally cannot wait for a return visit!
