NOTHING MORE Brings Carnal Nature Tour to Orlando
Walking through Disney Springs, on my way to Florida’s premier venue House of Blues, I was astounded to see the line wrapped around the entire building still a half hour past doors. There is no better example for the type of connection that Nothing More shares with their fanbase. They have consistently been one of the largest acts in rock music over the last decade and shined bright with a sold-out show in Orlando. Helping them in their cause was rising radio-stars Catch Your Breath and baddiecore artist ARCHERS.
Archers kicked off the night for an eagerly anticipating crowd with a burst of energy. Their R&B influenced metallic sound connected instantly with the sold-out crowd. They began their set with one of their bigger songs “Drag Me Out.” They continued their 35-minute set (each band had an extended set because DOOBIE was unable to perform) playing other hits such as “Never Enough,” “Say This Sober,” and my favorite “Making Eyes.” Keep an eye on ARCHERS, they keep growing with every tour and they are building an incredibly unique sound.
Catch Your Breath continued with an extremely memorable set. They opened with “Savages” to a roarious welcome. For a metal band with a pop-centric sound, I was extremely impressed with how crisp they sounded live, particularly the notes that vocalist Josh Mowery was consistently hitting. They performed other bangers such as “Dark,” “The Ghost Inside The Shell,” “Shame On Me,” and the viral “Dial Tone.” A memorable moment during the aforementioned “Dark,” was when Mowery, mid-verse, picked up a friendship bracelet a fan threw on stage and placed it on his wrist while continuing to perform. This is a terrific example of how a band that only recently started blowing up, has already started to build a meaningful connection with their audience.
NOTHING MORE finished their sold-out headliner with a grand production that we have come to expect from the Texas-based group. Their lighting and sound was out of this world. Singer Jonny Hawkins, with his body makeup, looked and performed like a real-life superhero. The rest of the band met his energy rather than letting him shoulder the crowd-interaction load. It felt like the entire band held the crowd and its energy in the palm of their hand.
They took the stage and began with “HOUSE ON SAND,” while later continuing on with radio hit “Let ‘em Burn” while the entire crowd sang every word. The performance of their track “Jenny” was a favorite moment of mine, as that song was how I connected with the band, years ago. The finished their action-packed set with their biggest hit, “This Is the Time (Ballast),” hitting a crazy drum solo afterward to send the crowd home ecstatic.
The CARNAL NATURE Tour has just started, if this action-packed lineup hits your state, you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not buy a ticket. The first few dates of the tour were completely sold-out, do not wait to see three of the music scene’s top rising artists on the same stage. You will receive R&B melodies and groove over chugs from ARCHERS, heartwrenching ballads from Catch Your Breath, and arena choruses from NOTHING MORE.
