It is not often a band can land a No. 1 at rock radio and pivot into a pop-era cover without it feeling like a detour, but Sleep Theory have been steadily carving out a lane where those worlds do not just coexist, they connect in a way that feels intentional.
The band consists of vocalist Cullen Moore, guitarists Daniel Pruitt and Paolo Vergara, and drummer Ben Pruitt. They have now released the studio version alongside an official video, giving fans a polished take on a cover that has already been shaped and refined through their live performances.

Sleep Theory’s approach to covers has never really been about novelty or nostalgia for its own sake. Instead of picking obscure deep cuts, they tend to lean into songs that are already widely known and culturally embedded, then reshape them through their own sound. The result is not imitation or simple tribute, but something closer to transformation. They take a track that audiences already recognize and filter it through the Sleep Theory identity until it feels like part of their own catalog. Their version of “Bye Bye Bye” follows that same approach.
What makes it land even more is how long it has lived in their live shows. The cover is not treated like a break in the set or a one off moment. It has become part of the experience, something fans now expect and react to in real time. It is already familiar in the room before the studio version even arrives, which gives the release a different kind of weight.
At its core, their version leans into what Sleep Theory have been doing across their original material, blending big hooks, R and B influenced melodies, and heavier rock textures without separating those elements into different lanes. Everything sits in the same space, giving the track a sharper edge while still holding onto the pop foundation that made it instantly recognizable.
The release also lands during a major stretch for the band. Sleep Theory are coming off their third No. 1 at rock radio, a Best New Rock Artist win at the iHeart Radio Awards, and a run of sold out headline tours across both Europe and North America following the release of their debut album Afterglow, produced by David Cowell and mixed by Zakk Cervini (Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens, Architects.)
Sleep Theory’s version of “Bye Bye Bye” is available now, alongside its official video.
That momentum continues into the rest of the year with festival appearances and headline dates lined up across the United States, Europe, and Latin America.
