Arising Empire Release Round Up: New Music From Sable Hills, MAVIS, Our Mirage, + AVRALIZE
Arising Empire Records’ roster hit us with a series of amazing releases this week. The label was founded by Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger and former "People Like You Records" manager Tobbe Falarz in 2015. Covering an array of artists in the metal/core scene that are making huge waves in style.
Sable Hills of Tokyo, Japan have released “Namu”, the second drop for their upcoming album. The single and music video have an amazing blend of the modern and traditional. With heavy riffs, harsh screams, woodwinds, strings, and intense drumming. The music video offers a blend of standard band shots alongside a buddhist praying. It has chugging breakdowns and two step speed choruses. The song reads as a prayer to the gods to become a better person. Fans loved the respectful nature of the video (the band doesn’t wear shoes inside) as well as the visual elements of the temple, shrines, and “damaged” style of recording. There’s hair whipping all throughout the video in classic metal form. The entire video is intense and visually appealing. The song is hard and has absolutely been added to the playlist.

Listen to “The Great Attractor”
MAVIS shifts the energy into something more tech-sounding. Looping electronic beats backing the intense metalcore instrumentals. The robotic voice for the clean vocals adds a futuristic element to the entire piece. The dual screams add a lot of layers to the experience. It shares the ethereal and choral vibe with wispy feminine vocalizations interspersed. Instrumentally, the guitars carry a lot of the energy with the drums providing a steady crashing cymbal and tempo. The drop tuning makes the entire thing a lot more intense. The lyrics of the song seem to lament a person’s constant contradiction. The sin of the great attractor isn’t a sin at all, more like a fatal flaw, someone who craves connection but only causes harm. It’s almost as if they’re destructive by nature. Leaving scars in the wake of every hand they’ve ever held. To that end, MAVIS seems either too foolish or too self destructive to abandon this choice. Proclaiming their place as observers, yet choosing to taste death and empty promises. It’s relatable in the feeling of being powerless to walk the path of self-destruction even when you know where it leads.

Pre-Order Fractured Minds Here
Our Mirage, the post-hardcore outfit from Germany, have paired up with Screamistry to release a hot new single to announce their new album Fractured Minds, out January 30. “Timeloss” is a stunning blend of the deeply emotional post-hardcore sound combined with ruthless screams. Reaching into their souls to pull out one of the most raw fears of human nature; being left behind. Draped in gauzy fabrics and diffused light the music video feels like a memory slipping through your fingers. It’s an intense release that foretells an extremely emotional album. The instrumentals provide a rhythmic background for the vocals that really steal the show. With a masterful push and pull between the soft cleans and severe screams, The buildup to a crushing crescendo leaves everything feeling exposed. A truly heartbreaking drop set to stun the world.

Break in the new album as they tour with Elwood Stray starting 28th, January in NÜRNBERG
Avralize is rocking our world again as they release the title track for their new album “liminal”. The dance-y metalcore single continues Arising Empire’s apparent theme of loss and fear. Stuck in the routine and feeling disconnected from reality following a lost love. The band continues their use of heavy riffs and almost pop-like synthetic elements. Their music has the heavy intensity of metalcore with all the groove of their 70s inspired vibe. The use of a cheerleader chant adds a level of whimsy that puts this single into earworm territory. It’s catchy and fun despite the somber subject matter. The music video accompanying the new reveal has the vintage quality and simplicity of a home movie. Isolating focus onto the band itself, yet cloaked in shadows fully embraces the transcendental energy the title carries.
Their debut album is set to release on November 14 and the excitement has reached a fever pitch.
