Rising alt-pop duo Honey Revenge return with unapologetic intensity, unveiling their razor-sharp new single, “Run Your Mouth.” The track debuted on April 30 via Thriller Records as a bold, breakup anthem that explores the aftermath of a friendship that comes to a bitter end.

“Run Your Mouth” dives into a specific kind of heartbreak that arises from a loss of trust created by the gossip train. The band shifts the spotlight from the typical romantic breakup to the unique sting that comes from the broken connections of a platonic relationship. The track paints a vivid picture of how rumors and loose lips can corrode even the strongest and long-lasting friendships, leaving behind a bitter taste that lingers far longer than expected.

Listen to “Run Your Mouth” here.

At its core, the single is a confrontation of what happens when loyalty is thrown to the side at the way of whispers and assumptions. Whether fueled by jealousy, insecurity, or simply out of boredom, the act of running your mouth makes for a messy fallout.

Vocalist Devin Papadol spoke candidly about the inspiration behind the track. "Friend breakups hurt more than romantic ones and I’ll die on that hill. There’s nothing worse than finding out someone you were once so close with is running their mouth about you. ‘Run Your Mouth’ expands on the age-old experience of the rumor mill, and how much it hurts to be the topic of gossip. Sometimes the only real solution to being badmouthed is to tell everyone to shut up!"

That raw vulnerability translates perfectly through the song’s dynamic contrast of high-energy, poppy choruses that are undeniably catchy, with an abrasive, alt-rock base that delivers a satisfying punch. This results in a track that feels as cathartic as it is infectious.

The accompanying music video plays on that duality with its stop-motion inspired, analog aesthetics, layered with varying textures that glitter themselves throughout the video. The style dances with the balance between perception and reality, similar to the experience of finding out your “friends” have been speaking behind your back.

Kristen

Hi! My name is Kristen and I’m a photographer/videographer based out of Milwaukee, WI. I’ve never known life without a camera in my hands and music in my ears. Music is something that I always felt passionate about and fell in love with how music can connect so many people from all different walks of life. At a very young age, I found my mom’s VHS camcorder and filmed anything and everything. Later in life, I became a wedding videographer and continued to do that for 5 years. While doing this helped me hone my craft, I always had a pull in the back of my mind to music photography. That's when I decided to bring my two passions together and got into music photography. I hope to help continue bringing people together and amplifying the voices and stories of all of the people and artists I am inspired by, and those I have yet to find.
