THORNHILL RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘BODIES’
Melbourne’s finest Thornhill have released their third studio album, ‘BODIES,’ following on from the 2022 album release of ‘Heroine,’ which was nominated for an ARIA award. ‘Bodies’ is bound to be the most personal one yet, from ultimate highs to crushing lows—the album has it all.
Releasing singles – ‘Nerv,’ ‘Tougues,’ and ‘Silver Swarm’ prior to this album release, which is set to be one of the most raw and personal collections of songs yet that the band has released so far.
‘Diesel’ is a hard hitter with crushing vocals from Jacob and roaring guitars, heavy basslines perfectly exhibited by Nick, making this the perfect opening track, which really sets the pace for this entire album.
Going straight into ‘Silver Swarm’ with its catchy drum beats and obsessive vocals with an R&B bassline—a real earworm of a track. As the album goes on, it starts to deep dive into the rawness that Thornhill has to offer.
‘Crush’ being one of the less heavy tracks with incredibly raw vocals and addictive basslines there is on the album, this is sure to get stuck in your head, giving this album a real feel of an emotional rollercoaster. ‘You got me running wild / Are we running out / What are we high on now?’ is a standout set of lyrics giving this a real euphonic feel and a different vibe to the album as a whole.
Ending the album is the pounding track ‘For Now,’ a slower-paced song while still having the addictive sound that this album has always had running all the way through it. A perfect ending to a masterpiece of songs.
Along with the album release is the visualizer for ‘Under The Knife,’ another euphoric-inducing track with the perfect mix of vocals and addictive drumbeats from Nick, making this the perfect penultimate track to end this album on.
All in all, ‘BODIES’ as an entire album is a collection of Thornhill’s rawest work yet, which really does showcase the band's ability to keep pushing the boundaries with their mix of R&B with underlying rock influences alongside their unique sound and all-round relatable lyrics, which will forever continue to push the rock scene and make their own sound known.
