Paleface Swiss and Stick to Your Guns unleash an "Instrument of War" their new single

Following a successful sold-out US tour, Paleface Swiss and Stick to Your Guns have once again joined forces to release a hard-hitting new single “Instrument of War”. Since their debut ,Chapter 3: The Last Selection in 2020, Paleface Swiss has captured the attention of fans through their vulnerable and emotionally charged subject matter. Stick to Your Guns, formed in 2002, has been known for their straight-edge philosophies and hard hopecore messaging. Inspired by the present socio-political climate, both bands' sense of conviction, and a shared love for Picasso's art, both bands have combined their energies to create a battle cry for mental health.

The new single was born as Paleface Swiss and Stick To Your Guns were on tour. Notably, touring in the industry has been rife with artists and fans experiencing mental health crises. Often working long hours, the constant movement, and being away from support networks makes things extremely difficult. Added to that, the constant stream of horrific news across the globe, things have been feeling more hopeless than ever. The song absolutely leads more with the vocals and drums. The style differences between Marc “Zelli” Zellweger's screams (Paleface Swiss) and Jesse Barnett's clean choruses absolutely feels like a war. The drums hit hard and seem to lead every other instrument in their sound. When you listen in to the guitar, which does have its own spotlight sections, you can hear them dueling it out before coming together in an absolute symphony. The bassline holds steady and does a perfect job of adding depth to the chorus and the breakdown when it hits. Overall, it's almost surprising to find out that both bands are completely on this song because it never gets to the point of sounding like too much is happening or anyone is overshadowing someone else. It speaks volumes to the relationship the two bands have built.

Listen to “Instrument of War”

“No, painting is not done to decorate apartments. It is an instrument of war for attack and defense against the enemy. I felt like we both relate to this. Our music isn’t just some shit to put on in the background. It’s something real that comes from a real place and it’s meant to attack the things that divide us and defend all the things that bring us together.”

The music video for this song creates a stunning yet messy picture. Featuring artwork by Roman Hilser, Marc “Zelli” Zellweger and Jesse Barnett are trapped, tied to chairs and screaming. Everyone is covered in paint as visual effects race across the screen. A true collaboration between the two bands every member is given a spotlight. The entire video is explosive. There’s an endless flow of motion throughout the entire thing. Shadows on the wall showcase glimpses of military action and trauma. There’s no guessing as to what the band means by “make it stop before it goes too far” because the answer is shown in the shadows. A heartbreaking message of how mental health struggles can and have taken loved ones. To have this video framing it as an endless war is brutally honest and impactful. While it feels as though a lot is happening throughout the entire experience the messaging stays clear; this song is a weapon.

In staying true to the message, both bands have also committed to having a tangible impact as well. 100% of proceeds from “Instrument of War” will be donated to Doctors Without Borders, supporting their emergency medical work in conflict zones around the world. A limited edition Instrument of War charity shirt is also available now at Palefaceswiss.com, with all profits going directly to the organization. While we can't deny the power of having music that brings us comfort and makes us feel seen, the willingness to provide monetary support to global relief programs is a true power move from these giants in the scene.
