Sleep THeory drop “Gravity” music video + release “Afterglow”
There is so much going on in the music industry right now, but our current focus today is on the American rock band Sleep Theory, straight out of Memphis, Tennessee. The band consists of 4 members: vocalist Cullen Moore, guitarist/unclean vocalist David Pruitt, bassist Paola Vergara, and lastly, Ben Pruitt on drums! Sleep Theory was formed in 2019, but started as a solo studio project with just Cullen, but later on, they became Sleep Theory. They are most known for their song, "Stuck In My Head," which charted #1 on Active Rock radio charts, as well as reaching 350 million streams between all 10 singles. Another honorable accomplishment of the band is they were featured on the digital cover of Revolver magazine.
Fast forward to May 16th, 2025, when Sleep Theory released a brand new album, "Afterglow," with 12 tracks.

In addition to the new album, Sleep Theory also released an official music video for a song off the album, "Gravity."
The music video takes place in a roller skating rink, and Cullen can be seen eyeing the worker as he starts to sing Gravity. About 2 minutes into the video, the worker starts to skate in Cullen's direction, with light-up blades on. Moore's melodic voice really sets the scene for the music video, along with the song.
"Gravity" has a very mellow tune to it. Here is what Moore has to say about it: "Gravity' is really just a classic R&B story— it's about that real chemistry you sometimes feel with someone, even when the timing's not perfect," Moore explains. "I wanted it to feel confident, a little flirty, and very 2000s — something that could've played in the background of a scene in a throwback movie."
Moore continues with some background knowledge of the song: "Gravity' actually came together back in 2021 before we even knew we were going to do a full album. I wasn't thinking in terms of a big project yet — I was just writing whatever felt good at the time. A big inspiration was the song 'No Guidance' by Chris Brown and Drake. It had this smooth, confident energy that stuck with me. I wanted 'Gravity' to have a similar vibe — something that feels cool and effortless but still has emotion behind it. Even visually, I was thinking of that same kind of late-night, moody feel."
Some of my favorite lyrics from the song that resonate with me are:
"Don't try to fight it after all you have been through."
"All of the ways you look at me
My perfect match, my harmony
It's grabbing me like gravity; it pulls me into you.
Got your head in the clouds, nothing bringing you down.
I could be the gravity that brings the ground to you."
