Volbeat will be dropping their ninth studio album, God Of Angels Trust, on June 6th, 2025. In preparation for the album's release, followed by a massive worldwide tour, the band released their newest single, In the Barn of the Goat Giving Birth to Satan's Spawn in a Dying World of Doom. Yes, that is the full title of the song.
The track ventures into new territory for the band while simultaneously pulling from their roots. The song starts off with a folk-style punch and dives head-first into a heavy and pounding rhythm that is paced by the bass lines and the booming drums. Fans praised the song, saying that this is what they look forward to when they listen to Volbeat and that they are excited to see a resurrection of their early career sound.
“I had so much fun writing these lyrics,” explained frontman Michael Poulsen. “It's about the outcasts and fallen angels of God — all the angels that were cast out of Heaven. And I'm being told to collect them in this big wagon and bring them to a barn."
He went on to describe the song and the story behind the lyrics. "There's a ritual going on where the fallen angels are being sacrificed to Satan's spawn to create soldiers for a new dark kingdom. So, instead of inviting my lady out to go to the cinema, I say, 'I have something better. You have to see what's going on in this barn... we've been invited to see the birth of Satan’s spawn and watch the world go down. How about that? I think some people will read the lyrics and go, 'What’s wrong with this dude?' But it's all for fun. It's like a silly horror movie. Or is it?"
In the Barn of the Goat Giving Birth to Satan's Spawn in a Dying World of Doom is one of ten tracks on the God Of Angels Trust album and follows the previous release of their track By a Monster’s Hand. Volbeat will be hitting the road for the Greatest Of All Tours Worldwide and will be spending the summer with Three Days Grace, Wage War, Halestorm, and The Ghost Inside. They will work their way through Canada and into the United States from June 7 - August 22, 2025. The fall leg of the tour will feature stops throughout Europe and the UK and will run from September 18 - November 13, 2025.
