MUDVAYNE’S RETURN CONTINUES WITH SECOND NEW SINGLE - STICKS AND STONES
Just two weeks after their first new music in over 16 years, Mudvayne continues their historic return by releasing yet another single, “Sticks and Stones.”
Mudvayne, made up of vocalist Chad Gray, guitarist Greg Tribbett, bassist Ryan Martinie, and drummer Matthew McDonough, dominated the hard rock/metal genres in the early 2000s. Now, they are ready to return with vengeance.
As a follow-up to the release of “HURT PEOPLE HURT PEOPLE,” which has already amassed over half a million streams since it dropped, the band has provided fans with yet another offering, “Sticks and Stones.”
The track, while carried through brutal drum beats and ruthless bass lines, is contradictory to its tonality with hauntingly somber lyrics. The visualizer for the song emphasizes that distinction, but you can anticipate the forthcoming music video to drive the comparison even further.

Vocalist Chad Gray spoke about the song, and the reflection is based on a very popular saying.
“I was always told 'sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” Gray explains. “Well, it's a great nursery rhyme, but I couldn't disagree more. I've carried a lot of words throughout my life as if they were just spoken to me. The reality is — they do hurt. I've tried my best to shed them, but when they come from dear friends, family — people that are supposed to love you — the words have teeth and they won't let go.”
“Blood doesn't wash out; it stains. I think I'm just trying to remind people to love their children. Don't use them as a bullet to fire into your ex or whoever you're with now. They're innocent, and they are impressionable. And trust me, as a child, that was used as a weapon, your words will hurt them...long after you say them."
The band will have a double A Side 7” vinyl available that have both songs on it and it will come in a standard variation, as well as a limited edition (only 500 available) signed variant. You can get them exclusively through the Mudvayne webstore. There will also be a variant exclusively available through Revolver.
The debut of “Sticks and Stones” coincides with the band’s 25th anniversary headline tour for L.D. 50. The tour runs from now until October 26, 2025 and will make stops all across the United States. The tour is a beautiful celebration of their debut album and builds anticipation for their exciting return.
