AVRALIZE Channels Karaoke Vibes in New Single "Bite My Tongue"
German metalcore band AVRALIZE is gearing up for the release of their album “liminal” on November 15th, and have come out with a brand new single “bite my tongue.” This track is the sixth single release off of what looks to be a 14-track album with "upside down," "helium," "wanderlust," "close to you," and "medicine" having already been released. A solid follow-up from their debut release Freaks, also via Arising Empire, which has earned over 5.5 million Spotify streams
The mixed style, groovy, metalcore track is chock full of different sections that get stuck in your head. The instrumental portion of the song is bouncy and light, as the lyrics tell a much more heartbreaking story. Weighed down with the heft of thoughts unspoken, there’s stress and pain beneath the groove. At the same time, there’s so much groove. A small salsa breakdown comes in between the synth and casual guitar riffs. The drums are cymbal-heavy, and the bassline is a whisper beneath it all, keeping things locked together. The vocals keep themselves equally light up until the near breakdown as well, which lends such a sudden whiplash that it actually feels like an emotional breakdown. It very much gives that breakup song you play when you feel like dancing it out over crying.

When asked about the release, the band was quoted as saying,
“For us, 'bite my tongue' isn't just another single — it's a statement. It's us showing another side of AVRALIZE: Groovier, sharper, but also deeply human. If you've ever felt like you were drowning in the things you couldn't say, this one is for you.”
A feeling I certainly can relate to. The band’s ability to play with depth and meaning while simultaneously keeping things light and fun shows an extraordinary talent.

The visualizer accompanying the drop is equally fun. Overlaid with a retro yellow wash, it plays out on a karaoke screen. The threat of seeing the full album title list is a fun touch. The hair is full on 80s, the outfits are funky, patterned sweaters, taken tops, and an array of nostalgic bottoms. Even the instruments weren’t spared from some more classic styling with Severin Sailer’s mic hanging from the ceiling, Bastian Gölz’s electric blue drums, Philipp Tenberken’s cream colored guitar, and Valentin Noack’s silver bass. Each member has their own grainy rectangle to dance in as it plays out like a late-night commercial. The whole thing comes off as cute and quirky and a little goofy. Considering their lean into groove, the style suits everything well. I can also easily imagine singing this late at a karaoke night.
While the band isn’t currently touring the US (something that I hope changes soon), they will be crossing the EU in November.
