Capsize Lights Up the Scene with “Under a Hollow Sky”

Capsize has been offering a sporadic array of singles to fans since their last release in 2016. Now, practically a full decade later, all that teasing is paying off with a full EP release scheduled for 2026. The announcement of their upcoming EP was made late 2025 with the release of “The Fracture,” which is currently raking in over –streams. Excitement is mounting even more now that the band has released their second single, “Under A Hollow Sky”. The single drops with a lyric video, giving everyone plenty of opportunity to learn the words before the band's next live appearance.

"With the release of this new single, we're opening another window into what we've been building without revealing the full picture just yet," says singer Daniel Wand

Listen to “Under a Hollow Sky”

“Under a Hollow Sky”, the title track of the EP, does an amazing job stirring up more of that intrigue. It’s a musical maelstrom. Vocally, it’s full of extremely scene/emo era elements. The clean vocals have that noticeably autotuned, almost whiny sound. The screams have that combination of low growls and higher sections that allow for deep emotional outpouring while still being decipherable. The lyrics are hopeful in a strange way, focused on searching for the light in a period of darkness. Instrumentally, the song is awash in energy. It opens on ten and maintains that sensation until the final verse. It’s perfect for a two-step and has a lot of impressive drum sections. The breakdown hits like a clap of thunder, its sudden intensity surrounding you as you listen, especially with how the previous verse lulls things into a false sense of peace. The song doesn’t fizzle out and die either; it pushes that feeling until it comes to an end.

The lyric video for “Under a Hollow Sky” is simple in terms of action but fascinating in its subtle story. Something that may trigger fans of the show Dr. Who, the video focuses on a greyscale crying angel. Eyes leaking dark ichor, it makes stilted movements in what appears to be an effort to escape. Every time the visuals glitch, viewers are met with a harsh red overlay before the angel is practically yanked back to its initial place. The lyrics are hosted in a basic red square, which makes them clear to read, but also allows you to focus attention on the artwork. It's unsettling and pulls a sense of pity for this unwilling victim. A constant battle for an escape waylaid by suffering.

What Capsize has done with “Under a Hollow Sky” is create something deeply nostalgic without it feeling like stagnation. Their rollout of the new EP shows that there are still exciting mysteries to be had in the world of music discovery. Pulling this return after ten years with music that holds to the emotional vulnerability that’s always been core to the scene. There’s only a little bit of time before the full EP is out, and I have it on good authority that it will be an absolute masterpiece. Until then, “Under a Hollow Sky” gives a delightful taste of what is to come.
