Buckcherry Brings Classic Tracks to Life Through Immersive Reality Collaboration with Soapbox

Buckcherry is taking a fresh approach to their music, giving fans a whole new way to experience their favorite songs. Through their new collaboration with Soapbox, vocalist Josh Todd and guitarist Stevie D, have reworked performances of their iconic tracks, Crazy Bitch and Lit Up. This partnership puts the artist in the same room as the fans, turning anyone’s home into a private venue.

On Soapbox, both songs are performed acoustically. At first, I didn’t expect these high energy tracks to work in an acoustic setting, but they really do. This unique approach brings a raw, intimate feeling to the songs. You can hear every subtle shift from the guitar and the rasp in Todd’s voice. It’s a different side of Buckcherry, one that feels closer and more personal.

Lit Up, my personal favorite from their debut album released in 1999, still carries its signature sound, but the redefined acoustics lets every note shine. The performance flows naturally, with small variations that make it feel real. Crazy Bitch has been performed acoustically in the past, but this was my first time hearing it in this style, so it definitely took me by surprise. I mean that in the best way possible. The original version has this way of flowing through you, making you move the moment it starts; the acoustic version is just the same. Even without the screaming guitars and loud drums, the song still radiates with energy.

If you’ve ever seen Buckcherry live, or even watched their music videos, you’re familiar with Josh Todd’s stage presence. He has this certain energy that he brings to each of his performances. It’s no surprise that he doesn’t hold back, even in an acoustic setting. Paired with Soapbox’s fully immersive virtual reality technology, it feels like he’s dancing right next to you. This makes the performance both intimate and electrifying.

When I first heard about this, I knew I had to check it out for myself. I threw on my VR headset and dove right in. Seeing Josh Todd and Stevie in my living room was truly something else; it really felt like they were playing right next to me, like I could reach out and touch them. Watching them play acoustically that close felt like I was watching MTV Unplugged. But instead of watching it on my phone, it’s like I was watching it live and in the moment. If you have a Meta Quest headset, I would highly recommend checking it out for yourself —you won’t regret the experience.

This collaboration with Soapbox gives fans a new way to listen to two of Buckcherry’s most iconic songs. Because you’re not just listening to the music, you’re experiencing it in a whole new way. I hope to see Soapbox add more artists in the future. This will definitely bring a new viewing experience for concerts and performances.
