This week deathcore band Bodysnatcher proudly released their latest album Hell is Here, Hell is Home. In a release that speaks to the no holds barred energy they’ve been bringing to live performances and releases since 2014. In Hell is Here, Hell is Home Bodysnatcher is taking all their rage and putting it into a ten-track anthem of revenge.

“The album is based around revenge and not bending over for people. I hope others can hear these songs and come to the same realizations we have while putting this together. Life is too short to let people walk on you or take advantage of you. Humans are monsters who betray, abuse, neglect, murder, and sometimes it feels like we’re too comfortable in the Hell that we’re in.” Kyle Carter, guitarist.
It’s hard to argue with Kyle’s mindset when all around us is (literal) fire and corruption. Embracing that energy, wrapping lyrics and heavy instrumentals to it, and giving it some sense of outlet is a much needed catharsis in the chaos.

The album was first announced with “The Maker,” a wicked introduction condemning the entirety of humanity. Lambasting the seemingly evolutionary drive people have towards collective destruction. The accompanying music video setting fire to the wolf in sheep’s clothing. It gives an explicit statement on where the band stands on those taking advantage of others, the abusers, and those using their positions of power to bring nothing but suffering.
The final single before the album release was "Plague Of Flies" which seems to live in the hazed aftermath of mass destruction. Full of that apathy that comes with seeing endless tragedy. When the pain unwillingly fades to a dull ache from constant exposure. The track rolls into being with tumbling drumbeats as the guitar weaves a serpentine path throughout. In an extremely vile music video the song is played over rot and decomposition that will make your stomach turn.
Between that and “Violent Obsession”, which was a single release on March 3rd, is “May Your Memory Rot” a eulogy for someone who deserves damnation. It’s the honesty that is often missed when death is used as an absolution of your living crimes. With names dropped and frustration given form “May Your Memory Rot” is honest. It’s raw and full of well-deserved hatred in a way that can relate to so many of their fans. It highlights the vocals between a lingering breakdown and guitar backed segments that press down on you.
“Violent Obsession” was the takedown single. It starts punchy and continues that energy throughout. The breakdowns call for blood, and I have seen first hand that Bodysnatcher fans are willing to provide. The harsh guitar riffs grate against the rest of the track in hot pursuit. The relentless energy that only slows in preparation for a wall of death worthy breakdown signals your doom.
The final track “Hell is Home” closes out the album with a declaration. Forsaking this life on earth for the pits of hell. Its group vocals pull everyone into the chant. The guitar has a strangely lullaby-like cadence in the background. The drums and bass simulate the ultimate fall from grace. It is truly Bodysnatcher giving their all and leaving things off with an inescapable explosion.
Bodysnatcher chose to abandon faith to become their own karmic weapon in this album. Hell is Here, Hell is Home calls to the fury burning inside us all and demands a sacrifice of your enemies. Every track offers growling and biting vocals accompanied with beautifully haunting instrumentals. From the bone rattling basslines, crisp drums, and clawing guitar it will leave a mark.
If you want to experience the latest highs of Bodysnatcher's live experience they will be on the CHAOS AND CARNAGE tour starting May 2nd. Just bring a mouth guard.
